RCFBand (Rockford ChristianFellowship Band) is a 40-piece community concert band with a Christian ministry, located in Rockford, Illinois. The band was organized in 1985 by Fred M. Hubbell and is conducted by George E. Strombeck assisted by Vicki Peterson. RCFBand consists of dedicated Christian musicians, has grown to include musicians representing many churches, and rehearses at First Covenant Church, 316 Wood Road, Rockford, IL Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM.
RCFBand is a result of the Chicago Christian Fellowship Band which was founded in 1964 as a program for a series of evangelical meetings in the old tablernacle of the Methodist campgrounds in Des Plaines, IL. The group of musicians who came together from the Elmwood Park Bible Church, Bethel Community Church and the North Side Gospel Center enjoyed the combined experience so much that they continued to practice together and began accepting concert dates. The CCFBand director for over 25 years was Mr. LeRoy Frizane, who has been followed by several other directors including his son Ken Frizane. Fred Hubbell (founder of RCFBand), Steve Lilja, and George Strombeck have directed both bands which have combined on several occasions to perform 'encore concerts'.
RCFBand performs at community events, churches and retirement centers, and is noted for its rousing marches and inspirational music; music appropriate for the occasion and season; making a joyful noise since 1985. Over 250 musicians have played with the concert band in the 28 years of its ministry.
